OTTAWA (ON) – MAY 15, 2008 – The Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence and Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), today announced the appointment of John K. Lynn as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation (ECBC). The appointment will take effect on June 1, 2008 for a five year term.
In making the announcement, Minister MacKay noted that “Mr. Lynn’s extensive management and executive experience provides ECBC with the leadership needed to further the development and growth of new and existing businesses and industries in Cape Breton.
Mr. Lynn’s experience in the private sector includes having been employed as an executive with Sobeys Inc., the Central Group of Companies and Shaw Industries. Currently, he is President of Pragmatic Management Solutions, a management consulting company focused on improving organizational performance. Mr. Lynn also served as a director of Cape Breton Plastics and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles.
Minister MacKay also thanked Marlene Usher for having served as interim CEO of ECBC over the past year-and-a-half, noting that her stewardship has ensured that ECBC is well positioned to continue working with its partners in building a stronger and more sustainable economy in Cape Breton.
